Exploring the Solar System
During the last 50 years we have explored our solar system using telescopes and spacecraft. We have landed on and orbited many planets, moons, asteroids and comets. In this talk pupils will discover the latest advances in space exploration, including this year’s spacecraft missions and the search for evidence of life outside our planet. How will these adventures change our view of Earth’s neighbours and what are the chances of other life forms being found on one of these bodies?
Why do some creatures NOT become fossils?
Pupils decide what is and what it not a fossil in a displayed tray of 10 items. After looking at a fossiliferous limestone, we ask what might have lived at that time which did NOT get fossilised, and then replicate a rough sea smashing up a range of seashells in a plastic pot.
Please note: This session is available for school bookings only
